Backstage at Ong-Oaj Pairam SS17 show

I recently had the great opportunity to be involved in Ong-Oaj Pairam catwalk show in London. It was an incredible experience. On display were the most luxurious evening dresses made by the talented womenswear designer. He is well known for creating timeless pieces that are beautifully hand-embroidered.

My all time favourite piece from the collection was hands down the bright red, ruffled evening dress. Simply put, the dress was definitely a real showstopper. But the rest of the collection was just as beautiful. Pairam’s inspiration comes from empowered country singers Dolly Parton and Shania Twain. Key influence are styles from the Wild West. He wanted to take us to a place where “fashion is fun once again”.

Swiss Church was the perfect venue for the event. Inside, the church was modern, spacious and brightly lit with white walls and ceiling to match. Having the catwalk made up of black reflective plastic, it beautifully reflected the movement of the dresses. With white hand-painted cactus like figures completing the backdrop of the venue.

Pairam’s designs reflect creativity and sophistication. He’s definitely the designer to look out for in 2017.

Check out his official page if you want to know more about the collection.
